curiosity drives me to rummage through things people leave on the street. curiosity also drives my 4-year-old daughter, chloe, to rummage through leaves on the street. or generosity rather, i suppose.
a few days ago as i walked with chloe to school, she bent down, picked up a leaf, handed it to me and said, “here’s a leaf for you poppie!” it’s not the first time i or my wife have received a deciduous gift, and i’m sure it won’t be last. the problem with these gifts is that, if they’re not already dry and crumbly, they will eventually get that way if we keep them for any length of time… until now.
on my way to the office from chloe’s school, the idea hit me, “what if i ink the leaf and and roll it through the press?” and thus, chloe’s latest leaf was immortalized (along with another leaf that i found on the way that i thought would print well).
i realize i’m not the first person to ever print a leaf. a quick google search will reveal that. i just want to encourage everyone out there to follow through on those persistent little “what if’s” in your minds.
