foxy and winston in red hook brooklyn

recently i made what is maybe the greatest twitter list of all time, composed of all the bklyn renegade craft fair 2011 vendors i could find on twitter (yes, i’m promoting this again. you know it’s awesome. and if you’re a renegade vendor and are missing from the list, let me know!). anyway, it was through the creation of this list that i’ve become friends with the fantastic and charming janie (or jane) from foxy and winston. (also, fox and winston on etsy and twitter)

besides having the rare gift of using the word “blarney” in a context other than reference to the blarney stone, janie is also a talented printmaker, applying vibrant ink to all sorts of products; towels, totes, greeting cards etc. and on top of that, foxy and winston has a storefront in red hook brooklyn. if you’ve ever been to baked (and if you live in nyc and haven’t been to baked yet, do yourself a favor and go today) but if you’ve ever been to baked, foxy and winston is not half a block south of baked on van brunt st., on the opposite side. go to baked and buy some brownie mix (and probably a cupcake, ya know, since you’re already there and all) and then go to foxy and winston and buy some great housewares so that you can make those brownies in style. but enough of my jibber-jabber. i’ll let these photos do the talking now;

i liked the composition of this image and i wanted you all to be able to put a face with the name. that said, i don’t think this captures janie’s personality that well, but i failed to take a better photo of her. she’s very pleasant and friendly and you’ll be welcomed in with warmth when you visit.
