check out this killer art series of jazz musicians by austin shaw, brought to my attention by marco. i really like how the color and style remain unified throughout the different compositions. it really helps to pull off the idea of “looking like the music”. hey austin, if you’re readin’ this, let the people know where we can purchase some prints of this hotness.

while austin does have some video on his site, the featured work here (jazz art) is still print, i believe. if not, i’ll have to remove this post. i’m pretty rigid with the whole print design thing. after all the site is dedicated solely to notable works of print design and the designers who create them : )

yeah it looks like print to me. i think it’s just fantastic. i can see pretty easily how he’s done everything, but his work is so clean. if he took the photos he used, double the praise. great stuff. i’d love a print of the last image (same one as the banner).

It is beautiful! Nick is right – there is a certain rather clean quality about his work, but the degree of detail is amazing!

Thank you for this post. These images are indeed print pieces. They range in size from 11″x17″ to 30″ x 60″. The original photos were taken by either my father, Larry Shaw, or my grandfather, Sam Shaw. Their photography can be seen at http://www.spc-promotions.com

I am currently talking to a publisher about creating limited edition prints for this jazz series.
I will put a posting on my site when they become available.
