manifest beauty

any idea is only as good as the best manifestation of it. it is in fruition that we are able to see most clearly what someone had in mind. what their vision was.

on the other hand, it is not the object that is the idea, or that is the source of the beauty, in other words. rather it is the mind that conceived of the thing that holds the seeds of beauty. a beautiful logo or type treatment is not the source of the beauty we see in it, but rather a conduit to manifest to the viewers the beauty that is conceived in the mind of the designer who created it.

i’ll turn here again to c.s. lewis;

“The books or the music in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust to them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing. These things—the beauty, the memory of our own past—are good images of what we really desire; but if they are mistaken for the thing itself, they turn into dumb idols, breaking the hearts of their worshipers. For they are not the thing itself…”
